Patience

Patience.

If I could give you one piece of advice on the eve of Cataclysm, it’s to have patience.

A great many things are going to happen over the upcoming days and weeks. They will be exciting, and fun, and you should take part in them.

But you should also remember that you have time.

A great many people will return to the game, or begin playing for the first time. There will be a lot of competition for resources, for position in the new guild society that is coming, for bragging rights.

Have patience.

Don’t let the expectations of others make you do things that aren’t fun for you. This is your play, not theirs. Take your time.

Enjoy the wonder of the new world. Don’t be in a rush to become jaded.

You have time to see it all.

    Great advice. =)

  2. If only they would add this to the loading screen tips /sigh.

    Happy Cataclysm, Cynwise 🙂

This is one of the best pieces of advice that you can give to anyone (old or new players)!

    Good Advice! Hard to do…

  5. Hell, extrapolate this to ALL MMOs, and get people to live by it, and you will be hailed as a prophet!

  6. Very good advice for seasoned vets or newcomers… and yes I imagine it will be very hard to put into practice though.

Great advice. Archeology should be a fun thing to work on since it seems to be pretty non-competitive by design. It will be a good time to get that rolling while the new zones are all crazy.

    • That’s kinda what I’m thinking, too. Archeology intrigues me a bit; I don’t honestly know much about it, but the little I’ve seen makes me want to give it a go.

Cyn, I read your blog a lot since i am a fanatic pvp´er; I obtained battlemaster and 100.000k honor kills. Sometimes I have to laugh about all impatient comments in battlegrounds when people say ¨we lose all the time¨. I think you are correct lets give it some time when the dust settles I am sure we learn to appreciate pvp in Cataclysm. For now its levelling to 85 first 🙂

Heck — apply this to your whole life and you might even reach true enlightenment; get everyone else to do the same and you’ll be well on the way to bringing about world peace. And, maybe, just maybe, an end to nerd rage forever…

Thanks for the reminder and happy Expansion Day Eve to all!

  11. Agreed. We will have days, weeks and months ahead to experience all the new content.

  12. Very good advice – Happy End of the World, Cyn. 🙂 I plan on following this advice to the fullest (while also levelling in a timely fashion so as to not let down my raiding guild, obviously). Starting with not even buying Cata until later in the week. /crazy girl My little priest and I will have plenty of fun getting her from 35 to however high I can get her before my new laptop comes.

    Great Advice.

  14. Meh.. patience is overrated!

    😉

  15. It’s probably a good advice. Maybe because mine in the same.
I don’t understand why people plan their holidays for something, that they can see tomorrow too. Fortunately I didn’t even had the choice.

Words of wisdom. I waited a few days and started through the Goblin zone, and came across… Darkblade Cyn?! I think you can claim this, right?
